Autonomous mobility stands at a pivotal juncture, facing both promises and obstacles. What prerequisites for change are needed for automated vehicles to get to the promised end-state and be favorable for our cities, environment and society? This course introduces the infrastructural, regulatory, and commercial challenges and approaches of shaping an autonomous future with a special emphasis on sustainable AV deployment in urban mobility ecosystems.

By the end of the course, you will be able to…
  • Explain the possibilities that vehicle automation provides in urban contexts and how they can be applied.
  • Understand regulatory and infrastructural requirements of AV deployment.
  • Evaluate the role of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) in urban sustainability, considering environmental, social, and economic impacts.
  • Engage in informed discussions about the promises and scepticism of autonomous mobility.

This course is open to everyone, including mobility professionals, urban planners, and individuals interested in the practical deployment of autonomous vehicles in urban environments. It is designed to accommodate participants with varying levels of expertise.

His recent research focuses on micromobility and autonomous vehicles.

Maria Kopp, mobility consultant at Factual Consulting, holds a degree in urbanism from the Bauhaus University Weimar and is passionate about mobility solutions. She has specialized on the interconnections between transport and urban planning and has worked on a variety of topics, including road safety, the assessment of infrastructure readiness for connected and autonomous vehicles, corporate mobility and mobility behaviour analysis.

Outdated information on a domain sseeing high speed evolution

Good foundation, but way too conservative views. If you operate by the scenarios presented in this course, you are in for some big surprises the next few years.
