Dilip KumbhamParticipant
Safety is very important measure needs to be considered, the time of departure of the trip will determine if that particular transport is safe or not, also the route. Even the public bus stop is not safe in late evenings.
Dilip KumbhamParticipantI would think that survey results are very similar to my expectations! For Indian context also it`s very similar. Men drive, women travel as passenger in private cars, except in case of scooters/bike are become quite common for women to use for short trips. Time of the day and route are very important as safety concerns are high. Women walk more and use public transport more is also very similar. Family trips and chain trips are common. Super market shopping is also part of the trip.
Dilip KumbhamParticipantI am from South India, Hyderabad. All most all the major cities in India have similar issues, Women faces many challenges in commuting late evenings i.e. after 6 pm due to safety in last and first mile connectivity. The current shared auto/ private auto /uber cab none of them are that safe unless until somebody accompany them. Mobility is restricted to day time only. Most of the companies where women work at late night shifts need to provide a cab with security for pickup or drop to office. These are my observations, but you find detailed report here https://bengaluru.citizenmatters.in/bengaluru-urban-planning-women-inclusivity-46432
