Pooja ChichkarParticipant
Hi,
I am Pooja Chichkar, Mumbai, India.
I work for a non-profit organisation where urban mobility is an integral part of our studies and research. So far we havent been able to built much on the quantitative data. Based on visual and shared user experiences we have been in talk with the government authorities to ensure proper lighting on footpaths to ensure safe walkable environs for commuters especially women.

More than 50% of the trips in Mumbai city are made on foot. A high percentage of women use shared and public transport. Unlike many other metropolitan cities, Mumbai has reserved seats for women on buses. Women also have dedicated compartments and women-only trains (Ladies Special) in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
However, poorly lit walking footpaths and on street heavy vehicular parking have created many unsafe spots in the city for women to walk .
