Hello, I am Selin from Turkey.
I am doing a doctorate in sociology. Gender differences in the transportation systems in my country can be observed quite clearly. Although the number of women using public transportation is higher, it is seen that the number of women using bicycles is lower than men. In addition, although women’s use of personal vehicles is increasing, the possibility of female drivers being mistreated in traffic is quite high. At the same time, it is seen that the tendency to travel at certain times of the day is higher in women. It is observed that women experience more anxiety when using public transportation or taxi, especially in the evening hours.
